World Champions Wear GK! Congrats Maryland Twisters F5!

Monday, May 9, 2011 by Allison Jacobs

Congratulations to Maryland Twisters F5, the 2011 World Champions in the Large Senior All-Girl division! After entering finals in the lead, they gave the performance of a lifetime Day 2 and walked away with the title! Captain Brittany Burkhard said, “Coming into Day 2 in 1st place was a huge morale booster and really got the team hyped up. However, our motto has always been ‘it's not how you start, it's how you finish’ and as a team, we knew we had to come out and give the performance of our lives. Day 2's performance was about staying focused and hitting the routine for ourselves, our coaches, as well as our dedicated fans. We had nothing to lose and everything to gain, so we put our hearts on the floor.” Congrats again, F5, on two amazing performances and the win! You were fantastic and you looked stunning!

The Diva is Back!

F5 World Champions

As a member of F5, I would like to thank GK Elite for everything they have done for us! The cheer uniforms, practice wear, warm-ups – all absolutely gorgeous! Thank you for your support all of these years, you all have been the best!

Cheer Sales Force Visits GK Headquarters in Reading, PA

In Early March, our GK Cheer Sales Force joined us at our headquarters in Reading, PA for our National Sales Meeting. Aside from learning how to help our customers with their special orders and all about the design and technology behind the GK Cheer Uniforms, the team also took a tour of our GK manufacturing facility. While we’d love to tell you how great it was, we think it sounds better coming from one of our team members, Kyle Gadke himself. And if you don’t believe it, read this actual post on fierceboard!

Gk Elite Plant Tour.... Wow!!!!

By Kyle Gadke

Cheer TAMsFirst off, I want to say, prior to coming here and seeing the plant, how it works, meeting corporate, etc - I already thought GK had the best uniforms (not because I work for them, but because I truly believe that) Anyway - After today, I don’t THINK they are the best - I KNOW!!!

All of their uniforms are made UNDER THIS ROOF here at corporate. Almost EVERYTHING (Actually, EVERYTHING, I believe) is made by HAND by workers here. I talked to several people who worked there today as we got a tour. One lady worked there for 20 years and said she LOVES coming to work every day. Another lady makes gymnastics scrunchies. She makes over 1500 scrunchies PER DAY! She is a SAINT!

I wish EVERYONE could see the plant on how GK makes their uniforms, the processes, the quality checks, how the jewels are applied, etc. IT’S INCREDIBLE!!! This isn’t meant to be a GK advertisement - I just want to say that I can’t believe that anyone would want to wear anything else!!!

Seriously - If you can ever tour the plant - DO IT! It’s INSANE!!!! Everyone is so nice and the new stuff coming out is GREAT!!!

NCATA Meet: University of Maryland Squad Hosted Fairmont State - Both Wore GK Uniforms!

Tuesday, February 22, 2011 by Allison Jacobs

This month, the Competitive Cheer Squad from the University of Maryland hosted Fairmont State at a National Collegiate Acrobatics and Tumbling Association (NCATA) meet.   The undefeated Terps, the former NCA All-Girl National Champions, now compete exclusively under NCATA, which sanctions meet-style competitions in which the squads are judged not only on their routine, but also on individual stunt groups, tumbling passes, basket tosses, and separate pyramids.
Fairmont State

University of Maryland
UMD’s Tricia Fitzgerald
gives her take on the Terps and the new type of competition:

Favorite part of NCATA:

"I'd say my favorite part of NCATA meets is the back and forth interaction with the other team. It’s great to be able to make a comeback and be able to emphasize each team's strengths. "

Hardest part about NCATA, compared to a traditional college cheerleading competition:

"I think the hardest part about the meets is that it really levels the playing field because we send our best out against their best. It makes it more exciting and challenging; it keeps us on our toes throughout the whole meet. "

How had you been preparing for the meet against Fairmont?

"In preparation to compete against Fairmont we spent a lot of time working on all of the events and improving in difficulty and execution from our previous meets. "

Terps’ Biggest Strength:

"I think our biggest strengths are the tumbling and team routine events. One of the things that’s great about UMD is the depth we have on our team. "

Thoughts on your GK Cheer Apparel:

"The GK cheerleading outfits are great! We really love our new black and yellow uniforms this year, and enjoy coming out to the song "Black and Yellow" when we wear them!"

In the end, it was a victory for the Terps, who received a final score of 275.846, ahead of Fairmont’s 270.178. Congrats on your win, UMD! You girls looked fierce!!

How to Make Your Logo Stand Out

Tuesday, December 28, 2010 by Michelle Weaver

When you’re part of a cheer team, it is important to always look your best. Since you’ll be wearing your cheerleading uniform, it's essential to make sure that your logo is noticeable so people can easily identify your team.

Your team's logo speaks for your group. This is why it's important to have one that represents the characteristics of your team. Having a logo that stands out makes your entire cheerleading uniform look more exciting.

make your cheer logo stand outThere are many ways to make your logo shine. Because you can have logos customized, there are countless ways to style your logo and make it as original and as creative as possible. A more traditional logo treatment would be appliqué embroidery using fabric lettering to create your logo.  To make your cheerleading unis extra special so they shine throughout your routine, you can add jewels on top of the appliqué embroidery so it's completely filled in or lightly scattered to give a subtle shimmering effect.

Jewel appliqués and embellishments are a part of GK Elite’s latest trend in cheer apparel. It is not only the eye popping colors that will make your uniform interesting. The best part is, you can jewel your uniform with as many crystals as you want!  By applying a bit of sparkle here and there, you can be sure that all eyes will be on you all throughout the competition.
