Spirit of South Texas Sparkles in GK Custom Cheer Uniforms

Thursday, February 9, 2012 by Michelle Weaver
Spirit of South Texas based in Alice, Texas recently competed in their new GK custom cheerleading uniforms.  The coaches sported sparkle and shine in some blinged out GK jackets so they could cheer on their athletes from the sidelines.  Spirit of South Texas competes up to Level 3 and recently their Spirit Elite Level 3 took 1st Place and Grand Champion honors at the Fun Cheer Competition in Robstown, Texas.

Get a similar look with with GK's Open Shoulder Crop Top U140, a halter style cheerleading uniform crop top with triple stripe long sleeves and exposed shoulders and back paired with a cheer skirt similar to our Double Bank V Waist Skirt U718V.  Both pieces were made of mostly Black Nylon/Spandex with Royal Nylon/Spandex with Silver Mystique and Iced Zebra accents.  They completed their look with clear jewels on the logo, along the sleeves and binding.

Valley Elite All-Stars Trendsetting in GK Cheerleading Uniforms

Tuesday, February 7, 2012 by Michelle Weaver
Valley Elite Cheerleading Training Center in Easton, Pennsylvania is home to the Valley Elite All Stars. In addition to being named the Best Level 2 Team in the country last season, the Valley Elite All Stars have earned 16 Grand Champion titles and 24 Nationals titles since 2007.  When the time came for new custom cheerleading uniforms, Valley Elite wanted something that no one else had at the time.

The design project grew out of a collaboration of ideas brought to GK by Valley Elite and new Territory Account Manager, Cory Hines, who, along with the expertise of the GK design team, created a trend-setting custom uniform with elements that are now seen among GK's Special Order uniform choices.

VEevev

Valley Elite All Stars' custom cheerleading uniform top is most similar to our current Double Cross Star Crop Top U145 which echos Valley Elite's original collaboration of a halter style cheerleading uniform crop top with long sleeves, exposed shoulders and funky back.  They chose a cheer skirt similar to GK's Low Rise 1 Stripe Skirt U725L, with narrow single stripes on both sides and an elastic waistband.  The fabrics Valley chose were White DryTech, Red Mystique and Black DryTech.  The Valley logo on the front chest shimmers with clear crystals on a Red Mystique background.  The style lines of the cheer top and skirt sparkle with hand-set clear SWAROVSKI ELEMENTS.

The dynamic halter cheer top with open shoulders and long sleeves has become the starting point for many custom uniforms and continues to be among some of the favorite picks for custom cheerleading tops.

Central Jersey All Stars Win Big With First GK Cheerleading Uniform!

Thursday, February 2, 2012 by Michelle Weaver
Central Jersey All Stars in Kenilworth, New Jersey, is a nationally renowned, highly competitive all star cheerleading program for girls and boys of all ages and ability levels.  Since the program's inception in 1996, CJA has captured numerous local, state, regional, national and international championships titles.  CJA chose GK this season to create their new custom cheerleading uniform.

Angel DeJesus, a Cheer Coach and Choreographer for CJA, told GK, "We are ecstatic about our new Level 5 uniforms from GK! This was our first season working with GK and our Territory Account Manager, Lynne Mensack, who made communication easy and Julia Kline from the GK Design Department was awesome! They both worked with us to achieve our ultimate goal of a clean and polished new look, but with a little extra flair to allow us to stand out like never before!  We debuted the new uniforms on December 11 at Cheersport in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.  It was a huge confidence booster for our athletes. We won 1st Place!  Our team was also crowned BEST OF LEVEL 5!  GK truly stands alone and we can't wait to work with you again in the future!"
cja
Following the Cheersport competition, the Senior 5 Team went on to take 1st Place and Grand Champions at the Gotta Cheer Snow Globe Competition and then secured an AT-LARGE BID TO WORLDS at JamFest this month!  Congrats CJA!

CJA's cheer top is stunning from every angle.  Similar to Special Order 3 Strap Open Back Crop Top U136, CJA's cheer top features long sleeves, arm banding detail and a strappy open back.  CJA designed a cheer skirt similar GK's Corner Accent Cheer Skirt U709R with triangular corner detailing and side slits.  For variety, CJA also choose a cheer short similar to Low Rise Faux Belted Short U520L, a low rise cheerleading short with faux belt loops along the front and back of the comfort waistband.  All three pieces were made with Black, Rich Royal, and White Mystique and blinged out with SWAROVSKI ELEMENTS across the shoulders, at the cuffs, on the front of the short and scattered over the Black Mystique portions of the skirt. CJA is boldly spelled out across the front of the cheer top in Rich Royal and White Mystique with an added layer of clear SWAROVSKI ELEMENTS to tie it all together.  Now that is a winning combination!

Trinity All-Stars Shine in Custom GK Cheerleading Uniforms

Thursday, January 12, 2012 by Michelle Weaver
Trinity All-Star Cheerleading out of Powell, Ohio needed a new cheer uniform, but they didn't want anything already seen in competition.  They wanted their own custom design.  One call to GK Representative Lori Johnson got things started.  Lori worked with Kelly Winbigler and Michael Render, Co-Owners of Trinity All-Stars Gymnastics and Cheerleading, to navigate the journey from idea, to sketch, to sample - to the finished custom cheer uniform.
TAS 1

"We have received compliments from other teams and coaches on our GK Cheerleading Uniforms at every competition due to our unique design.  There is really nothing out there today that is anything like it.  With Lori's help, the design process was easy and timely.  From sizing to delivery, GK exceeded our expectations.  Sizing was well organized and fast and we received our uniforms earlier than expected!  The fit of the uniforms is above par compared with any other uniform company.  The 4-way stretch allows our athletes to move withTAS 2 ease in competition.  Most importantly, our athletes and families love our GK uniforms, not only for the style, but also for the ease of care.  THANKS GK!  WE APPRECIATE ALL YOU DO FOR COMPETITIVE CHEERLEADING AND GYMNASTICS!”

Black Sylktech, Silver Mystique and Kelly Sparkle fabrics were chosen to create Trinity's custom creation.  The large star design on the front of the cheer top provides a shimmering background for the distinctive Trinity logo.  The style lines that wrap around the entire cheer top are what Trinity envisioned and
Trinity comp.
are an original concept not seen in the pages of our catalog. Their cheer uniforms truly started from scratch. The team boldly spelled out TRINITY in clear crystals for more sparkle - adding the name to the back of their custom uniform.

Check out some of the members of Trinity's Sr. Level 5 in their custom creation! Trinity also has a Jr. Level 3, Youth Level 2, Mini Level 1 and new for 2012 - a recreational youth/junior team.  They collected several 1st place awards in 2011 and a National Championship title.

As Seen In Inside Cheerleading Magazine - YOU MIGHT RECOGNIZE GK MODEL RYAN COOPER

Wednesday, February 23, 2011 by Michelle Weaver

HE’S NOT JUST A FAMILIAR FACE AT CHEERLEADING WORLDS – HE’S ALSO A MODEL FOR ABERCROMBIE & FITCH AND WAS RECENTLY FEATURED IN THE 2011 GK ELITE CHEER CATALOG.

 Ryan Cooper AbercrombieRyan Cooper GK

WHEN RYAN’S NOT DAZZLING THE COUNTRY WITH HIS LOOKS AND SKILLS, THE PRE-MED STUDENT CAN BE FOUND COACHING AT MARYLAND TWISTERS OR VOLUNTEERING AT THE LOCAL SOUP KITCHEN. INSIDE CHEERLEADING CAUGHT UP WITH RYAN TO ASK HIM ABOUT HIS DIFFERENT VENTURES, AND HOW HE KEEPS UP WITH IT ALL.

How Did You Get Into Modeling?

I got into modeling my senior year of high school after my senior pictures photographer submitted my photos to a local modeling agency. After graduating high school, my agency offered me the option to move to New York full time to purse a full-fl edged modeling career, but I was left with the difficult decision to pick modeling or school. In the end, I decided that school was more important.

Where Do You Go To School and What Are You Majoring In?

I’m currently a junior at John Hopkins University, class of 2012, on an academic scholarship (Hodson Trust Scholar). I was one of only 15 in my incoming class to receive this scholarship. I’m a pre-med student, double majoring in Behavioral Biology and Art History. I hope to one day be a plastic surgeon with my own surgical practice.

WHEN AND HOW DID YOU GET INVOLVED WITH CHEERLEADING?

When and How Did You Get Involved With Cheerleading?

After being a gymnast for many years, I started cheerleading when some friends suggested I join their local All Star team to better my chances at a college scholarship. I began cheering in 2005 and instantly fell in love with the sport. In 2006, I cheered at Kentucky Elite in Lexington, KY on their large senior coed team for two years, making two top 10 appearances at Worlds. After moving to Baltimore for school, I began cheering at Maryland Twisters on their international open team Black Ice. My favorite part of any cheerleading routine would be standing tumbling and partner stunting, and my signature tumbling skill is punch front through to whip whip double full. This year I started coaching at Maryland Twisters large youth Level 2 team (Little Winds), and it has been an extremely rewarding and awesome experience.

WHAT MAKES YOU NERVOUS?

What Makes You Nervous?

The stunt section of any routine always makes me nervous. I’m always holding my breath until I’m sure every stunt is staying in the air. One stunt bust can be the difference between first and last place.

WHAT ARE YOUR OTHER INTERESTS BESIDES CHEERLEADING?

What Are Your Other Interests Besides Cheerleading?

I have many interests outside of cheerleading. I always try to involve myself in community service to help better and give back to the community. Whether I’m volunteering at the hospital or working at the local soup kitchen, I make giving back and helping those less fortunate a priority. On campus I’m also involved with a group called A Place To Talk, which provides an outlet for students who are stressed or just need someone to listen empathetically to help them resolve their problems.

Why Fit and Comfort is Important to All-Star Cheerleaders

Thursday, December 30, 2010 by Michelle Weaver

A cheerleading competition is tough, demanding, and action-packed. Yet, movements should look effortless. It is important that every move is well executed.  To be sure you’re in top form while performing, your team should be in the best competition cheerleading uniforms. A great cheerleading uniform is one that not only looks good and is well designed, but is something that fits well and is comfortable enough to allow all kinds of movements.

Cheerleading Uniforms

The reason fit and comfort is important is that your outfit can make or break your performance. A perfect fit will flatter your figure so well and will make you truly own your outfit. There’s nothing more distracting (to you
AND the judges) than cheerleading wear that is too loose or too small for you. You have to make sure that your uniform fits you well. What is fit without comfort? It’s something equally not worth wearing. Good cheerleading uniforms must fit you and you must be comfortable in them. Your uniform should not restrict your movements making you look stiff.

If you're looking for a uniform that perfectly fits you and is comfortable, check out our catalog. GK Elite offers the most dazzling cheerleading apparel that is custom fit and uses the highest quality 4-way stretch fabrics to ensure maximum comfort. When you feel confident & comfortable, you actually perform better!

Join us on Facebook for updates on our latest cheerleading uniforms.
