Cheerleading is a Sport!!!A sport is defined as an athletic activity requiring skill or physical prowess and often of a competitive nature. Cheerleading involves physical power especially in tumbling. It takes time and patience to learn to flip. Also stunting involves physical prowess because it can be difficult lifting people and have them do very cool things while in the air, you must work out and exercise a lot to be able to lift people. Jumping is more of a skill, because the way your jumps get better is by stretching. Also we compete in cheerleading which is my favorite part.

Cheerleading is a SPORT
I believe that Cheerleading is a Sport, because a sport is classified as a competitive, entertaining, organized and physical activity, which exactly describes what we do as Cheerleaders. In Cheerleading we compete against other teams using organized routines which contain tumbling, dance, jumps, cheers, and stunts. During competition we are judged and scored, just as in a football, soccer, and basketball there is a referee (judge) and points are given (scored) to determine a winner, just as there a winner and competing in cheerleading. With all of lifting, stunting, warm ups, tumbling, etc. we are just as much an athlete as anyone else. We wear our uniforms proudly, we yell out loudly, we jump high, and we roll low, if you didn't think Cheerleading was a Sport now you know!

Ask me what my sport is?
Most people would say cheerleading isn’t a sport, for they think we scream chants at football games, and shake pom- poms. As a true competitive cheerleader I know it is much more than that. We flip and twist our bodies, lift and throw people through the air, and work harder than most athletes do while keeping a smile on our faces. We have to bond and learn to work with every person on our team. Next time you see someone with makeup dripping down their face from all the sweat they perspired, you’ll know they are a true athlete.

Cheerleading is just as much a sport as any other thing we call sports. We put hours and hours each week into one routine for two minutes and thirty seconds at a competition. If you think your in shape, try to go through conditioning with us. Its not going to be easy. If you dont think cheerleading is a sport, why dont you try to do what we do. You'll be changing your mind, trust me.

.Keyword Strength I've played boy's ice hockey for 10 years (I'm a girl) and have cheered for 4. I can honestly say that I am worked harder and longer at cheer than I am at hockey. In cheer I have to excel in 4 areas and I have so much body control. Cheer works every muscle in the body, including face muscles because we have to smile through it all!

IF CHEERLEADING IS NOT A SPORT THEN WHY IS PING PONG??
Cheerleading is a sport whether people like it or not. Over the years the physical proof has obviously emphasized this idea. Yet people don't understand. They continue to refuse the obvious without even looking at the evidence such as this: IF cheerleading is not a sport then why is ping pong or poker? In ping pong your really never in a team. Just a pair or single and all your doing is playing immature tennis. Yet people don't hesitate to say its a sport. Poker is basically a bunch of people sitting at a table gambling and drinking. Yet people don't hesitate to say its a sport. Cheerleaders are actually either in a fitness center weight lifting or in a gym practicing. I am on my fifth year of cheerleading and the sport never ceases to amaze me and challenge me both mentally and physically. I practice two times a week for 3 hours and am about to put in exercising and tumbling on the weekends, private stunting lessons, and etc. And to add on to that i go to an all star cheerleading competition every month! What i do gets me healthy and makes me happy. I can prove to the world that i am definitely an athlete acrobat and leader in cheerleading; not poker. I can represent myself family and friends better in cheerleading then i can in ping pong. So after all this let me ask you one simple question? : Wouldn't it be more logical to just deem cheerleading as a sport or to continuously blindly calling unhealthy things like Poker one?

Cheerleading Is A Sport and It is My SportI have been a cheerleader since I was 6 years old and I am now 16. I have dedicated to something that has made me strong, gave me a sense of accomplishment, and made me a better person. It keeps me in shape and keeps your mind and body ready for anything. Like when a stunt falls you have to be able to physically and mentally able to do what you can to fix it. Unlike in football you make an error and you have another play. You only get one chance. This is why I think Cheerleading is a sport.

BECAUSE WE WORK FOR IT TOO!Cheerleading is a sport because it combines dedication, hard work, practice, sweat, tears, ambition, and every other aspect of any other team sport. We work just as hard if not harder then most teams. We practice, compete, and win.

Cheerleading IS a Sport!Cheerleading requires teamwork, dedication, determination, and a whole lot of muscle! The cheerleaders at our school practice every day for two hours. They run a mile every practice, which is more than the football players and basketball players run. Each routine requires HOURS of perfection. Each stunt involves blood, sweat, and tears. Tumbling and jumps require hours of stretching, leg strengthening conditioning and ab work. If there is ever a day when a cheerleader doesn’t have practice, you know they are at home, stretching, conditioning, and perfecting every single little detail of their routine. Cheerleading is most definitely a sport.

The football player is tired?
In 2009, there was a boy on my cheer team who was a football player who chose to take cheerleading so he could work out during off season. Well Mr. Starting quarter back was always the first person to be out of breath, and freely admitted that our cheerleading practices were ten times harder than his football practices. So if cheerleading is more of a work out than football, and football is considered a sport, then shouldn't cheerleading be considered a sport too?

How is Cheerleading NOT a Sport? Competing for a prize; glory and pride. Training harder than many other sports do to achieve goals they can only dream of. Sharing blood, sweat and tears with teams that feel like family and stretching our bodies into the most amazing positions. So why do we do this? Because we love the SPORT of cheerleading. Cheerleading is a sport with rules and guidelines and just like any other team sport competitors; dress in matching uniforms, have positions, previously organize “game plans” or as we call them routines and have a “referee” aka judges. So why isn’t cheerleading a sport????

Cheerleaders are young girls (and guys too!!) that work many hours a week on tumbling, jumps, cheers, and dances for their schools and communties. I completely believe that cheerleading is a sport. These young people work extremely hard!! Cheerleading teaches them sportmanship, values and teamwork. There is a lot of hard work that goes into cheer routines.

Yes, cheerleding is a sport!Cheerleading is sport, because it isn't just dance. We are tumbling and jumping like an athlete. We throw other people in the air. We're flying. Can you fly in other dances? NO, you can't. Because cheerleading is a SPORT!
