F5 Rocks Worlds in GK Custom Cheer Uniform

Wednesday, May 16, 2012 by Michelle Weaver

F5 knows how to do different - or did everyone show up to Worlds in a zebra-striped stretch Hummer? One of the most talked about cheer uniforms at Worlds this year was the Maryland Twisters F5 GK cheerleading uniform.  There was lots of speculation...is it all one piece? Is it a leo? Is it see through?  From the minute the F5 athletes exited their fierce ride - the reviews began.  Spectacular! Stunning! Unlike anything seen before! The best bling ever!  One theme emerged from the chatter about the F5 uni - they made a full top fierce!

But, it wasn't a full top - it actually was a custom GK gymnastics leotard with matching shorts as many speculated!  F5 proved that an extra secure GK cheer uniform works without sacrificing style. The F5 custom, long sleeved leotard is made with Black Nylon/Spandex and Black Mesh with Shadowproof Lining giving the illusion of sheerness.  It is accented with Ocean Mystique and White Sparkle z-stitch design elements.  The matching GK cheer shorts are made with the same Black Nylon/Spandex, Ocean Mystique, and White Sparkle fabrics.  F5 raised the bar with their artistic use of Swarovski Brilliance crystals scattered all over the uniform and lighting up the F5 Logo on the front. The stunning result was a bold new look for the F5 athletes and all that bling coordinated quite nicely with their Silver Medal win for Large Senior All Girl at the Worlds Competition.  Congratulations F5!

Tara Cain, Owner, Maryland Twisters, said, “F5 is different because we can take the obvious and twist it into something innovative, not just in our skills, but also in our cheer uniforms. GK took F5’s different vision of a full top uniform and created a masterpiece. Not only is F5 different, but GK stepped up and delivered a beautifully unique uniform design. Thank you GK for creating a stunning out-of-the-box look for F5.”

Top Gun Trendsetters at Worlds 2012

Friday, May 11, 2012 by Michelle Weaver

Love it or hate it, a new trend gets people talking and Top Gun definitely started a lot of chatter a few weeks ago at the 2012 Cheerleading Worlds.  Having become known for "what will they wear next" - Top Gun did not disappoint showing up on the floor in stunning GK custom cheer uniforms with one of the most talked about uniform choices - white capri pants!  Top Gun took a risk with the new style, but the big risk led to big reward in the world of Cheer fashion.  The Top Gun uniform even has its own thread on Fierce Board and an opinion poll where, at last check, the majority of voters loved the new look.

Victor Rosario, Founder, Co-Owner & President of Top Gun Cheerleading Training Center said, "In an industry that becomes more and more cookie cutter each year how can one guarantee to stand out from the rest? GK! That's how."

The consensus regarding Top Gun's different, but better, look was that it was stunning on the floor with the style lines of the capri pants creating a more uniform look for the team overall with male and female athletes both in pants.  Top Gun's new cheer uniform has a military feel with sharp white fabric and bold black and gold accents, but maintains the cheer ferocity with just the right amount of bling.

Top Gun's custom cheer top and custom capris are created with stunning White Heavyweight Nylon/Spandex with the dull side out, accented with Black DryTech & Gold DryTech.  The cheer uniforms are embellished with Black and Clear Crystals scattered on the sleeves, lower leg, and along the style lines.  The Top Gun logo, Jags logo, and stars on the upper sleeves are created with Black & Gold DryTech.

GK Practice Wear for Deserving Athletes

Wednesday, April 4, 2012 by Michelle Weaver

Infinity All Star's S5 Team, a.k.a. The X-Factor, was recently spotted at the Cheer and Dance Extreme Nationals in Virginia Beach sporting some beautiful new cheerleading practice wear from GK!  Practice and dedication has paid off for these athletes who took home 1st Place National Champions and Level 5/6 Champion!  Practice wear is a great way to motivate your athletes and create team unity.

Jenny Goff, Head Cheer Coach of Infinity S5 X-Factor said, "In the past 8 years of coaching, I have never coached a more talented, respected, and family-oriented team. I am proud to say that even though this first-year team already has a couple of National Titles, the win is not all they are about.  They cheer because they LOVE the sport.  This team comes early, stays late, and riots if practice is ever canceled!  Most of them are in the gym 5-7 times a week!  They have more than doubled their amount of level 5 tumbling skills throughout one season.  I am SO proud of them.  They are a coach's dream team!"

The X-Factor practice top is GK's Tech Mesh Back Cheer Top Style CB133, a scoop neck black DryTech cheerleading top with sharp mystique front to back inserts and tech mesh back panel.  Infinity customized the cheer top with a shimmering logo in silver hologram sequinz and purple sequinz.

The 2012 Cheer Catalog features a wide range of in-stock styles for all of your practice wear needs including 24 in-stock top styles and 26 in-stock bottom styles all of which you can add your team name or logo in your choice of jewels, sequinz, imprinting or embroidery!

Meet Kyle Gadke, Illinois & Wisconsin GK Cheer Territory Account Manager

Monday, April 2, 2012 by Michelle Weaver

Kyle Gadke graduated from Lindenwood University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration with an emphasis in Marketing and a Minor in Psychology.  Kyle also cheered while at Lindenwood, bringing home a 2nd place title in 2007 - the highest in the school’s history - in NCA Division II Large Coed.  He was captain of the cheer team in his Junior and Senior years.

Kyle is currently responsible for GK’s Illinois and Wisconsin territories.  He came to GK with 9 years of coaching experience and is a coach at Ultimate Athletics in the Chicago West Suburbs.  Previously, Kyle was at Platinum Athletics in Saint Louis, MO until 2012.  In their second year, Platinum attended Worlds on a Full Paid Bid and were Worlds Finalists, placing 18th in the World, the highest win in the State’s history.  Kyle currently resides in Naperville, Illinois.

Kyle is USASF credentialed and certified in Levels 1-5 with stunts, tumbling, and baskets.  He owns Spirit FX, a choreography and skills building summer camp business which services several high schools, colleges, recreational teams, and all-star gyms across the country.  If that doesn’t keep him busy enough, Kyle is a Production Manager for an events company and has recently found a new interest in announcing and DJ’ing at cheer events.  He has served as a cheer judge on numerous panels throughout the Midwest.

Kyle’s is most passionate about representing GK as a Cheer Territory Account Manager and working with people in the industry.  According to Kyle, “I was just in awe when touring the GK facility and learning how the cheerleading uniforms are made.  I love the GK style and that you can tell a GK cheer uniform apart from any other brand.  The uniforms are ‘Engineered for Cheer,’ and I love that I don’t have to make my clients work with contracts.”  Kyle further shared that the best part of his job is seeing a coach’s or athlete’s face when they put on or see their new GK cheerleading uniform for the first time.  “It’s like Christmas morning, or seeing Top Gun Large Coed for the first time!”

Looking for Cheerleading Uniforms in the Illinois and/or Wisconsin areas?  Contact Kyle at kgadke@cheergk.com for more information.  Outside of Kyle's area?  Find your GK Cheer Territory Account Managers in other parts of the country here.

Texas Thunder Storms Cheer America Nationals in GK

Wednesday, March 28, 2012 by Michelle Weaver

The Strikerz of Cheer Gym Texas Thunder in Richmond, Texas, took 2nd place in the Level 5 Restricted Division at Cheer America Nationals.  The Strikerz debuted their new GK cheer uniform this season with a design that incorporated the Strikerz' distinctive lightning bolt throughout the design.

Stephanie Hoot-Whiddon, owner of Texas Thunder, said, "We could not be more pleased with our GK cheer uniform! It is absolutely stunning on the floor.  Everywhere we go, someone stops us and asks where we got our uniforms!  A true quality uniform that turns heads everywhere! I'm so exited to see our new uniforms for the rest of our program.  Thanks GK!"

The Strikerz one-of a kind cheer crop top design is similar to GK's Cutting Edge Sleeve Cheer Crop Top U158 and features lightning bolt style lines across the right shoulder.  The cheer skirt features similar lines extending from the waist.  Team colors were incorporated using GK's Black, Ocean, Merlot, and Silver Mystique fabrics.  An abundance of SWAROVSKI ELEMENTS throughout the binding trim add the sparkle!

The red hot lightning bolt accent between the packed SWAROVSKI ELEMENTS "TX" on the center chest of this fierce uniform top can't be missed.  Did we mention the team name is imprinted in silver along the left sleeve?

Fame Athletics All Stars Take 1st in GK

Monday, March 19, 2012 by Michelle Weaver

Fame Athletics in San Jose, California is a cheerleading facility with teams for all ages and skill levels, including All Star teams.  When the senior all star athletes needed new cheerleading uniforms, Fame Athletics went with GK. They looked fantastic in their new uni's recently at the Jamz National Competition Las Vegas, Nevada where the top spots were taken by their Senior Co-Ed Level 3 Team and their Small Senior Level 2 Team.

GK worked with Fame Athletics to design a spectacular cheer uniform that lights up the competition floor from the moment they step on it.  Working with a sharp combination of Black Nylon/Spandex, Ocean Mystique, and White Heavyweight Nylon/Spandex fabrics, the cheer top began as something similar to GK's Unique Web Back Crop Top U141. FA switched out the web back design with a large Ocean Blue star outlined with Clear Crystals.  They also added Ocean Blue stars to the lower sleeves and Electric Blue crystal star embellishments to the upper sleeves.  Clear crystal bling enhanced the rest of the cheer top and set off their FAME logo across the front chest. Their one-of-a-kind cheer top pairs perfectly with GK's Low Rise Wrapped Band Skirt U707L in the same fabrics and Clear crystal embellishments.

Go Fame Athletics!

Thank you for making GK look great! Good luck with the rest of your season!

Cheerleaders in Canada? Yes! And they're wearing GK!

Saturday, March 17, 2012 by Michelle Weaver

Though the Great White North has been historically a hockey nation where cheerleaders are seldom, if ever, seen, the sport of competitive cheerleading has been growing in popularity over the past decade.  Most of the grass roots cheerleading programs in Canada sprang out of school based squads, but more and more competitive cheer programs are starting out as a stand alone sport and not just in support of another activity.

The Cheersport Sharks of Cambridge, Ontario are a testament to just how big competitive cheerleading has become in Canada.  The Sharks recently moved into a state-of-the-art, custom built, 18,000 square foot cheer gym dubbed, "The Shark Tank."  The Sharks also recently celebrated a huge win after capturing 1st place at the 2011 Cheer Evolution Nationals in Niagara Falls, Ontario.  They also won the Level 5 Grand Champion banner and were the highest scoring team of the event.

These Canadian cheerleaders are blazing their own trail and are sporting GK cheerleading uniforms on their journey!

Sharks1

The Sharks' special order cheer top, similar in style to GK's Sleek Diamond Back Crop Top U164, a scoop neck cheerleading uniform crop top with clean sleeve style lines and looped diamond back treatment and their Low Rise Basic Cheer Skirt U701L are both made of Black Sylktech, White Mystique and Rainforest Mystique fabric.  Their custom logo on the front chest and back were created with Jade and Clear SWAROVSKI ELEMENTS and some extra sparkle was added with Clear jewels along style lines.
