NCSTA Inaugural Meet - University of Maryland Wearing GK Cheer Unis!

On February 5, 2010, the inaugural meet for the National Competitive Stunts and Tumbling Association was held at Kennesaw State University, in Kennesaw, Georgia. The NCSTA's format consists of collegiate teams competing in an events-based format similar to gymnastics. Each team competes in five events including a team routine. The other four are stunts, tumbling, basket toss, and pyramid. The four skill events consist of a compulsory portion and an optional portion. Teams are evaluated on the same skill in the compulsory portion and are permitted to select their skills for the optional portion. Each team
is scored for each event and the team with the highest score overall

wins.

Teams participating in this groundbreaking event included the University of Maryland, University of Oregon, University of Georgia, Fort Valley State University, Quinnipiac, and Fairmont State.

Cheer Alliance' Hot new Unis

"We could not be happier with the way our semi-custom designed GK Cheer Uniforms turned out! We were able to implement all the special details to our uniform without the custom price tag.

Cheer Alliance; Together Strong has the "CATS" acronym in our name. We were thrilled to find out that we could get "sparkly Cheetah spankies" built right into our skirts, and a claw mark over the shoulder out of the same hot fabric! It is every cheerleader's favorite part of the uniform. The crisscross back design is so unique and we were able to embroider our "Together Strong" motto right on there.

We started off designing this year's uniform with some prerequisites since the level of tumbling and stunting has advanced so much in cheerleading. It was important to have our uniform made with stretch fabrics that fit right, comfortable to be worn all day, eye-catching on the performance floor and a unique look to represent our organization. Our motions and formation changes really pop with the two different arm colors; it was exactly what we were looking for. Our professional choreographers loved working with and integrating our uniform design into the routine. IC - Whats hot and What's NOT!

In the October issue of Inside Cheerleading - in the Trend Factor Section - What's Hot and What's Not - They point out a very relevant NOT (the punctuation is all from IC)

cover it up . . . PLEASE!

Sorry Ladies, but there is nothing attractive about walking around a competition with an unbuttoned and unzipped uniform top and skirt! Please be modest and realize that you are in a place where there are people of all ages. Remember that you represent our industry, and we want that representation to remain positive!

Thanks to Inside Cheerleading for pointing out this very relevant fact: that so many Cheerleading Uniforms out there are terribly uncomfortable and girls have to unzip in order to breathe and move.

Guide Review - GK Elite Sportswear Cheerleading Uniforms

The top and skirt I reviewed were of the highest quality workmanship. The fabrics had a nice stretch to them but still bounced right back to their original shape after many washings. This, along with the flat seams, added to the comfort of the pieces as well as the functionality. GK Elite Sportswear has put their 28 years of outfitting gymnasts into making outstanding uniforms for cheerleaders. These are definitely not your mother's cheerleading uniforms. They are innovative in design and most importantly, they are engineered for performance. One note: as with any cheerleading uniform, you should follow all washing, drying and care instructions.

Earning a spot on the world famous Maryland Twister's F5 large senior team in only the 6th grade, with four NCA national championships and one Cheer Worlds gold medal on her resume, it is clear why Taylor Hall is this month's Today's Cheerleader.

(1) FACING FEARS - Despite a fear of heights, Taylor is ironically one of the best top girls in the country.

(2) SMILE FACTOR - Taylor's smile can light up a room. It also helped her become the face of GK's 2009 cheer line, fronting their catalog cover.

(3) CARRYING A FULL LOAD - On top of cheerleading on a competitive level 5 team and going to school five days a week, Taylor takes extra courses after school to earn more credits towards graduation.

The California All Stars and the Maryland Twisters F5 teams both competed in the 2009 Cheer Worlds competition in April wearing the new GK Elite Sportswear Cheer Uniforms.

Introduced early in 2009, GK's New Cheer Uniforms and Cheer Team Coordinates have proved to be a natural extension to our product offering. Cheerleading apparel is a match to our capabilities with Gymnastics Leotards and Apparel, where reliable stretch and consistent fit are a must. GK Cheer separates include Cheer Crop Tops and Long Tops with matching Shorts and Skirts. Instead of Heavy Double Knit Polyester and Braid, GK uses the same Nylon Spandex used in Gymnastics Leotards.
