Strength Training Device for Cheerleading

CoreAthletics MaeFlyerThe MaeFlyer was designed by CoreAthletics as a core strengthening device to help develop and improve leg MaeFlyerstrength and ankle dexterity for Cheerleaders. With safety in mind, the MaeFlyer is designed to be used one leg at a time. This allows not only for athletes to safely step off of the device, but also to train each leg individually to ensure balanced muscle development. The ankle dexterity and control that is gained by using the MaeFlyer is beneficial to any athlete.

CoreAthletics was founded by Todd and Ellen Kopp in 2005. Todd Kopp has been involved in cheering for 14 years, ever since his middle daughter, Valen, first took up the sport in middle school. But it was his youngest daughter, Kelsie that inspired him to get involved in the cheer industry.

"I came home to find Kelsie perched on the arm of the couch trying to do a heel stretch. I worried about her falling -- not to mention breaking the couch -- and figured there had to be a better way for her to practice. So I went down to my workshop and started tinkering and that's how I came up with the prototype for the MaeFlyer.

A few weeks after Kelsie began practicing with the MaeFlyer her coach noticed Kelsie's balance and leg strength had improved so much she was sticking all her stunts. Kelsie's coach wanted to know what our secret was. So I told her about the MaeFlyer. The coach ordered a bunch for her squad. I took a few samples to our next competition and by the end of the weekend I had received dozens of orders. That's how CoreAthletics got its start."

To use the MaeFlyer, simply step up onto the board by placing one foot in the center leaving the other foot free in the air. The goal is to maintain control of the board while not letting the sides of the board touch the ground. Athletes who attain control of the board can then begin to practice stunts such as the scorpion, liberty, arabesque, or heel stretch while on the board.

CoreAthletics Cheerleading Training equipment is now available through GK Elite on GK's Website. The MaeFlyer and other training equipment in GK's 2010 Cheer Uniforms Catalog.
